Milwaukee 2823 M18 Fuel Brushless Mower Features
They werent messing around when they released the new Milwaukee 2823 M18 FUEL Mower. Even though many of the other tool manufacturers beat them to the mower punch, Milwaukee may have the upper hand now. This 21-inch self-propelled brushless cordless lawnmower runs on two of the M18 12Ah batteries. You get a 21-inch blade and a stamped steel deck that really stiffens up the chassis. The overall width of the lawnmower is just 22-inches, making it perfect for getting into tight spaces.
The two front 8-inch wheels spin freely while the 10-inch rear wheels are the drive-wheels for the self-propelled motor. You get 5 forward modes to choose from that control the speed from 0 4mph. In the top setting, this is a pretty brisk walk, even for a 62 body thats used to walking fast. With the mulching plug in place, the mower naturally mulches the clippings, dropping out the bottom. In just seconds, you can attach the side discharge, which is a 90-degree chute that launches the clippings out the left-rear of the mower. Finally, you can also choose to attach the bagger, also in just seconds, to catch and bag all the clippings.

I wish we knew how Milwaukee might price their M18 FUEL lawn mower, but we dont have that information at present. We also cant make an educated guess without having more info except to say this should come as a premium product over anything offered by Ryobi. I expect to see this in The Home Depot in 2022 positioned as their top-of-the-line battery-powered lawn mowing solution.

Milwaukee Confirmed Mower 2022
Now I don’t have to use a separate brand for outdoor equipment.
So i was told by an insider that milwaukee has an aversion to multi battery tools. But they also said it was likely that this thing would take 2x 12ah batteries. But then when you think about it, that’s $500 in batteries out the gate without the mower. If this thing ends up being just shy of $1000 MSRP, forget it, don’t even bother.
I was looking at an Ego in Ace last week and the mower + battery was around $550. To buy a duplicate battery of what was included in the kit was about another $375 or so iirc. Milwaukee is going to have to give up a similar amount of margin on their batteries if they want to sell any of these.
Yea but how powerful will it be with a single M18 battery both propelling and mowing? Ive got an Ego battery mower now with 56v batteries. Its great but it can feel underpowered at times.
You’d need two batteries to come in at the minimum required 36v. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an electric mower that was less than that and still managed to cut grass.
Too late. They are taking too long to release things that every other brand has brought to market imo. I went ego last year and am super happy
Until you need a battery replaced under warranty. What a trash company when it comes to customer service.
Ego makes better OPE, anyway. Especially since its not a ton more money for better tools.

Bagging And Discharge Options
The Milwaukee M18 FUEL battery-powered lawn mower features a 3-in-1 design for handling grass. You can either mulch using what we anticipate is a dual-blade system, bag grass, or use the left-side discharge chute. While we wait on our review sample to arrive, we can talk about some primary concerns well have about this new Milwaukee M18 FUEL lawn mower. The first thing has to do with runtime. Per Milwaukee Tool, we do know this lawnmower runs off existing M18 FUEL battery technology. Will the Milwaukee M18 FUEL lawn mower have enough battery life using 18V M18 FUEL packs?
We can also see from the supplied photo that the mower seems to have room for two batteries under the hood. That means Milwaukee can use two packs to deliver more runtime or power with this M18 FUEL lawn mower. Thats great news.
While they didnt yet specify the batteries that will ship with the new lawnmower, we could imagine some surprises. With the DeWalt 15Ah battery pack hitting the market, and Milwaukee already having their 12Ah battery, we know that 18V packs are generating more watt-hours than ever before. Who knows, perhaps Milwaukee will announce a new battery alongside this mower. One can only hope.
In any case, we saw 47 minutes of runtime when cutting with four Makita 18V 6Ah battery packs. We expect well see at least that much from Milwaukee if you pair this mower with a pair of 12Ah batteries.

Milwaukee Tool has teased about their upcoming M18 Fuel cordless mower several months ago, and finally shared official launch details. Their first-ever cordless mower will be launching soon, in April 2022.
The new Milwaukee cordless mower, model 2823-22HD for the kit, is a 21 self-propelled dual-battery mower. Milwaukee says that it delivers best-in-class cut quality and more max torque than 200cc gas competitors, meeting the performance needs of the landscape maintenance professional.
Milwaukee says that the new mower maintains blade speed in demanding applications without bogging down, and that it also offers instantaneous throttle response on both blade and drive motors for ultimate control.
The mower will be powered by M18 batteries, and it draws power from them simultaneously.
The mower has a true 21 cut capacity and optimized steel deck design. It also features 3-in-1 capabilities bagging, mulching, and rear side discharge.
Milwaukee says that their mower reduces missed blades of grass and clumps compared to competitive mowers.
It has a single point height adjustment.
It self-propelled functionality has variable speed control up to 4 MPH.
The mower also features front and side lights for 180° visibility in lower light situations.
The mower folds up for vertical storage.

Storage And Other Features
The handle on this mower folds so that you can stand the mower upright. We love that design and favor it over fixed handles. The latter work great if you go from shop to trailer, but make it less convenient for those of us storing mowers in a shed up against the wall.
The last thing worth noting is the pair of LED lights at the front of the mower.

Milwaukee Tool opted to elevate these in what looks like a throwback to a 1955 Ford Thunderbird at least thats our take. In any case, LED lights on a lawn mower point to low noise output. Otherwise, you simply couldnt mow early enough in the morning to use them.
Milwaukee M18 Fuel Self
As we build our case for Milwaukees target user, we have to start with cutting power. Fortunately, thats something we can quantify. Weve seen high-end electric lawn mowers reach above 8 ft-lbs of torque. Thats an impressive number that beats some gas mowers.
Milwaukee uses two M18 batteries to reach 36V power and rates their self-propelled lawn mower at 10.0 ft-lbs of torquemore than you get from a 200cc gas engine. You have to have two batteries to run the mower. While you can use any two packs to run, the best performance and runtime come from two 12.0Ah High Output batteries.
We went out and tested in St. Augustine and Bahia that dominate our central Florida landscape. We hadnt mowed our test lawn for about a month in anticipation of this test. With grass in some areas still 8 inches tall, we dropped the deck down to its lowest height to see how far it can go before clogging and stopping. It never stopped. The blade kept turning high RPMs and discharging the grass without a problem.
Its obvious to our team that this mower has a ton of power and its clearly the strongest battery-powered lawn mower weve tested.

Getting Lost In The Weeds
During this first testing, we subjected this mower to conditions it may not have been designed to routinely undertake. Our test patch was on the other end of the spectrum from a finely manicured lawn and may have been better suited for a brush hog than a mower. We estimated that the grass was approximately 9 average height as gauged by the height when compared against a 5-gallon construction bucket.
When we used the side rear discharge chute, the mower resembled a hay bailer with the debris shooting out the side. Surprisingly, the mower did not bog down even when we cut down small bush-like growth and dense iron grass clumps.
The mower senses when the speed drops and almost instantly provides more power to compensate for the additional load. The user can hear the change in pitch when this happens. The mower recovery time to increase the speed is almost instantaneous.
First Cut
We started the test patch with the mower deck at 6 ½ high. That way, we could go through the highest grass and weeds and frankly miss anything that was concealed in the grass. We used the mulching plug for this cut to see if the mower would choke on the amount of material it was chewing up. It did not and cut through the materials with no trouble at a relatively high speed. Our typical speed on the first cut was between 3 ½ and 4. The first cut lasted ½ an hour and used one unit of power out of four
